The rest of the "little things" that Pancho might be touching are bacterias
from the streets. One that's really excessively gross is the bacteria in
homeless poop: fecal coliform bacteria. Fecal coliform bacteria, which
is present in humans and animals for the aid of digestion, can cause ear
infections, dysentery, typhoid fever, viral and bacterial gastroenteritis,
and hepatitis A.
Similar bacteria can be found in animal decomposition, which is where that
dead, eyeless cat comes into the picture. You'll know what I mean by "eyeless"
if you've ever seen a cat that's been dead for awhile, and has a bunch
of bugs covering it.
Bacteria found in the raw red meat that the clumsy Italian boy from the
restaurant spilled all over the blacktop on the way to the dumpsters are
called E Coli. E. Coli affects young people and old people the most,
and when it leads to hemolytic uremic syndrome, or HUS, it can be fatal.
In case you're worried about having hemolytic uremic syndrome, the symptoms
consist of stomach cramps and. . . diarrhea.
So there you go. The five second rule was probably started by some crazy
man whose idol was Hitler and who wanted to kill people.
