1971 Gold Rusher

Gold Rusher is a steel mine train roller coaster built by Arrow. in 1971. Gold Rusher was the first ride at Magic Mountain. This ride has 0 inversions, and barely goes over 35 mph. The ride stands 70 ft. in the air. This ride has a very long wait since it has only one coaster. The ride takes about 2 minutes. The complete lack of any theming, even one wood hut or a couple of pick-axes lying about, is laughable. This is a pity, because the ride could be a very good mine train, given its location on the side of a hill. It uses the terrain reasonably well, though it is slow, and if the park spent some money on theming instead of more trim brakes, then this ride could still become quite good. As it is, it is just a slow ramble through the woods, with an OK helix right at the end that doesn't rescue an otherwise poor ride. Only worth riding if there is no queue, or if you have small children, as it is a reasonable introduction into coasters for them. The ride is a very good starter ride for youngsters, or a ride for adults who don't like the very fast rides. All in all the ride is ok, not bad, but not very good. But I do suggest this ride for people who have never been on a roller coaster, or for young children.
