| Hitting is one of the best things to do in baseball. It is also the most fun. When you go to hit, it is best to stand in one spot in the box every time you bat, so you get a feeling of where different pitchers throw the ball. Most people stand back in the box when there is a fast pitcher, but that is not good because you need to be able to hit that pitcher. You also are supposed to stand back in the box for fast pitchers so you have a little longer to swing the bat and hit the ball. It is also best to pull the ball because it goes farther. Pulling the ball means hitting it on the side you are batting. So, if you are batting lefty, you pull it to the left side of the diamond. If you are a righty, you would hit it to the right side of the diamond. Basically, you just want to hit the ball. The one thing I always want to do when I go up to the plate is to put the ball in play. That is all you have to do, because if you put the ball in play, chances are, the other team will make a mistake. |
