In the movie, as you know, the refugees all come to Paul's house. These people all came to Paul's house because they knew that Paul was powerful, and they had a better chance of not having any harm done to them.
    At this part in the movie, Paul went out looking for his neighbors so at least he could keep some of the people safe from the abusers.

When he was calling for them, he couldn't find them, of course. They were already hidden in a room at his house.
    The refugees in this movie were very lucky to have a person like Paul to keep them safe. It was very hard for Paul but because he knew they depended on him, he did the best he could to keep them and his family alive.
