A welsh springier spaniel is a medium sized dog weighing about 35 pounds. females are slightly smaller at 17- 18 in. at the shoulder while the males are 18-19 in. at the shoulder. It is red and white and has freckles of brown fur. They are a rare dog there are only 2 breeders in central and southern California. They are flushing birds used for hunting birds they flush birds out of bushes so you can shoot them. They make great announcers when a person is coming to the door. They bark loudly if someone other then the family comes into his territory. The welsh springier spaniel came over several years ago and is now firmly planted in certain areas of the country.
