This song has mislead many. Bologna is one of the worst kinds of meat that exist. Bologna is a mixture of cooked, smoked sausage made of cured beef, pork, or a mixture of the two. That doesn't sound very appealing to me. A typical recipe for the sausage inside the bologna uses seasonings such as salt, sugar, pepper, and other spices. There is also a mixture in it that includes sodium nitrite to prevent botulism. Sometimes, moose and venison are used as the main ingredients of bologna. Large manufacturers use any part of the carcass including organ meats, trimmings and end pieces from other meat processing. That does not sound like something I would like to use. Smaller bologna makers tend to use choice cuts of meat.
