Epilepsy
What is Epilepsy?
Epilepsy is a brain disorder in which the nerve cells, or neurons,
cluster up and sometimes signal abnormally. The normal pattern of neuronal
activity becomes disturbed, causing strange sensations, emotions, and behavior
or sometimes convulsions, muscle spasms, and loss of consciousness is what
happens I epilepsy. Epilepsy can develop because of either abnormal
wiring in the brain or an imbalance of nerve signaling chemicals called
neurotransmitters, or even both. Epilepsies can cause any kind of
disorder for example seizures. If anything disturbs the normal patter of
neuron activity- from illness to brain damage to abnormal brain development-
it will cause seizures. Just because you have a seizure that doesn’t at
all mean that you have epilepsy, but if you have had two or more seizures
then he/she most likely have epilepsy.
