All About Echidnas

Habitat: Tropical rainforests and dry eucalyptus woodlands
Location: Australia and New Guinea
Food: Ants, termites, worms, and beetles
Description: Can be from 1-1.5 feet long.  Males can weigh from 9-13 pounds; females can weigh from 4-11 pounds. Small head with a long snout, long claws, spurs on both hindlimbs. Six to seven inch long tongure, no teeth.  Covered all over with fur and bristles
Behavior: Stays within 0.2 miles of it's home both day and night.  Very tolerant of it's fellow echidnas.  If threatened the echidna will dig itself into the soil.
