All About Wallabies

Habitat: Grassy, brushy, and rocky terrain
Location: Australia, New Guinea, the Bismarck Archipelago (a group of islands northeast of New Guinea)
Food: Plants, herbs, leaves, fruits, roots and bark of woody plants
Description: Marsupial with oval-shaped ears, small or no canine teeth, small upper front teeth.  Size ranges from 12-32 inches long; tail size ranges from 10-28 inches long.  Weight ranges from 2-17 pounds.  Females have front pouch to hold young
Behaivior: Highly Sociable.  They are nocturnal so they stay in their homes until late afternoon when they emerge to go to grazing areas or go catch food.  In the winter they spend the last hours of light in the day basking in the sun.
