Lack of Perfection
Many things are good, but nothing is perfect.
Laguna Middle School, for example, is far from it. I have written
down some things that I think are flaws that can and should be fixed.
One thing that really annoys me, as well as
many other people, is how mixed up the drink vending machines are.
The juices are in the water machine, the waters, are in the PowerAide
machine, the PowerAides are in the soda machine,
and the sodas are nowhere to be found. It gets really irritating
sometimes. It wouldn’t be very hard to fix, but no one is doing anything
about it, which I find even more irritating and obnoxious.
Another thing about the drink vending machines
that annoys me is that we cannot purchase sodas or PowerAdes during school
hours. I would find that understandable if they didn’t sell sodas
in the cafeteria, defeating the whole purpose of the soda and PowerAide
machines being blocked. Kids just get their sugar and caffeine from
another source.
Speaking of the cafeteria, even though their selection is pretty
good, I don’t think they have enough cheese items.
I think more kids would probably eat lunch in the cafeteria if they had
a wider variety of
cheeses. They should
sell cheese separately, and have a ‘cheese
bar’, which would be sort of like a salad bar, except with cheese
instead of fruit, vegetables, including salad, bread, and other stuff.
Some types of cheeses that I recommend are:
feta cheese, mild, medium, and sharp cheddar
cheese, swiss
cheese,
jackcheese, and other various types like that.
Most kids probably wouldn’t like the idea of feta, because it is a cheese
made from sheep milk, but they would probably like the taste, if they tried
it. A cheese bar would probably help profits.
I think that someone should put air
fresheners in the vents in the bathrooms, so that they don’t reek so
much. Then the air inside of them might seem more breathable.
This would make it so students might use the bathroom during break and
lunch, and not be constantly leaving during class.
I don’t think students should be forced to
run during physical education classes. It tires them out, and then
they are too worn out to put any interest into the P.E. activity for the
day. This is one of the reasons why students do not always have full
participation during the subject. Other students, though, have exactly
the opposite problem: too much energy. This could easily be solved
by letting the students run for as long as they want, with as many breaks
as they want, for the first seven minutes of class. Those who do
not wish to run could stretch during these seven minutes. This way,
everyone could put his/her full participation into the daily activity,
which would take place during the other fifty-two minutes.
Everyone always complains about having a sore
back and neck, and they usually do this during math class. The solution
to this is to trade in all of the chairs in every math class with special
reclining
massage chairs, with the controls on the inside of the left arm rest.
The last quirk that I have is that students are
not allowed to skateboard on school campus. It would allow students
to move more quickly from class to class, lowering the amount of tardies
to each class.
Now I have addressed some of the things at
my school, Laguna Middle School that I think are
major faults at this school: drink vending machines, lack of a cheese bar,
reek of the toilets, being worn out by running in Physical Education, the
lack of reclining massage chairs in math class,
and the fact that skateboards are not allowed on campus at Laguna Middle
School. I hope that any readers will see the brilliance of my complaints
and suggestions, and enact them. But until that happens, I can only wait.
