Many Romans visited the public pools or the Thermae. Some Romans went to baths for healing, entertainment, or just to clean themselves. To gain popularity some rich Romans would have people pay to enter the baths. There were 170 baths in in Rome by 300 A.D. That number went up to over 900 baths. Back then the baths were like clubs. The baths were very luxurious. Some of the rich Roman men would bathe in wine, and the rich women would bath in milk.
