Avila Beach's history started back when the Mexican Land, Grand Erta was around. Avila Beach was a 22,136 acre ranch which suffered from the horrible years of 1863-1864. The name " Avila," came from the first ever name of the property that is now known as Avila Beach. It would then sell have of his land to makeup the money that he lost during those years.
