GRADING  SYSTEM

There are three major categories which when added together make up each quarter’s grade.

1. KNOWLEDGE  and  SKILL - - - - - - - - 50  POINTS
*   Points are based on the average of written and skills tests given throughout the quarter.
*   Written tests including health and fitness concepts, sport history and rules, terminology and applied knowledge.
*   Skill tests include observed skill acquisition, practice, refinement, acquisition and application.

2. PARTICIPATION - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 30  POINTS
*   Students are expected to be in attendance daily and to participate fully to the best of his/her ability.
*   Absences or non-participation due to illness or injury may require student make-ups.  A loss of 3 points for each day not made up.
*   Lack of participation or being off an assigned task will result in a loss of from 1 to 3 points.
*   Assigned detention for breaking a school rule, if not served, will double.  If the second detention is not served a loss of  3 points, parent notification and possible referral will result.

 

3. INDIVIDUAL  EFFORT - - - - - - - - - - -20  POINTS
*   Students are expected to consistently give a complete effort in class.
*   Points are based on the individual’s effort observed throughout the quarter.
*   Lack of appropriate effort will result in a loss of from 1 to 3 points.

TOTAL  POINTS - - - - - - - - - - - - - -100  POINTS

 

EXTRA  CREDIT  POINTS:  Beyond the points listed above, extra credit points (from 1 to 3 pts.) may be earned by showing responsible leadership, extraordinary efforts, assisting peers or assisting teachers.

A+   =  98 pts  -  above 

A     =  93 pts  -  97pts  

A-    =  90 pts  -  92 pts

B+   =  88pts   -  89 pts 

B     =  83 pts  -  87pts  

B-    =  80 pts  -  82 pts 

C+  =  78pts   -  79 pts

C    =  73 pts  -  77pts 

C-   =  70 pts  -  72 pts 

D+  =  68pts   -  69 pts 

D    =  63 pts  -  67pts  

D-   =  60 pts  -  62 pts 

F     =  59 pts  -  below
