Golf Balls

Brad t, Jared , and Justin examined the compression of the golf ball and how it relates to the height of the bounce when being dropped three feet.


How a Fish Swims

Abigail , Tori , and Tamara  demonstrated how a fish uses aerodynamics and jet propulsion to swim.  They also showed how a fish undulates its body and snaps its tail to obtain forward thrust.


Trained Response

Drew , Josh , and David  showed the effects of trained response in our everyday lives.  This included how trained response has kept us alive by learning to respond to certain stimuli.  Example: pain  Touch fire=get burned.
 
 


Vocal Cords

Hannah ,Alex , and Jordan  presented on the anatomy and function of the vocal cords through an interesting series of T.V. programs.
 
 


Diving

Brian , as Olympic diver Greg , explained step by step information for a perfect dive: going through the hurdle, spinning, twisting, and entering the water.  He showed how great and scientific the sport of diving really is.
 
 


Magnetic Bacteria

Roy  and Jesse  retrieved bacteria from the mud near Sweet Springs and presented the results of their experiments with magnetic bacteria.  Their hypothesis was that north seeking bacteria could be changed into south seeking bacteria by strong magnetic pulses.
 
 


The Lungs

Bethany  and Annie  as Dr. O'Conell and Dr. Anderson attempted to enlighten the audience as to the important functions of the lungs, the main part of the respiratory system.  The parts of the lung were explained and spirometry was discussed along with the results of lung capacity tests done on a sampling of Laguna Middle School students.
 
 


Diabetes

In this presentation, Michael gave a description of diabetes.  He performed a demonstration showing how thick blood with sugar in it is hard to go through veins.  His other demonstrations include a Power Point presentation and a model of the digestive system.
 
 


Neon

Marguerite taught the history, parts, and uses of neon.  She also performed a demonstration on how neon works.
 
 


Atherosclerosis

This presentation gave the basics of the heart and the disease known as atherosclerosis.  Becky , Timmi , and Casie  explained what it is, how it is treated and how to prevent it in a very entertaining way.
 
 


Artificial Intelligence

This presentation covered the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence from its creation by John  to its current form.  Jasmeen  and Patrick  compared the human brain to artificially intelligent programs.  They hope their presentation helped people better understand their technological surroundings.
