Week of August 25: Welcome
to Negrantiland! During our first week, students will get textbooks
and take them home. Do not bring your
book to school! It is your resource at home. There
will be an orientation and a review of the states. Your first homework
is due on Friday--it is a joke about the state that you were assigned.
All you have to do is put into Yahoo! or Google the name of your state
and the word "jokes" and you will usually get several listings for jokes
about your state. You are welcome to run the page off, put your name
on it and hand it in. We will have two pretests this week.
One is questions from citizenship tests and the other is to see how many
states you already know. I will be teaching a study skills method
of studying for the states' test. If you already know most of them,
the method I am teaching wwill help you get a good grade. If you
are one of the people who have never had to learn your country's states,
it will help organize you to learn them. The states' review test will be
on Wednesday, September 3.
