Ø GENERAL PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS POLICIES:
Ø DAILY ATTENDANCE- Students must be in the locker rooms by the beginning of the period, 5 minutes to dress and report for roll call. Laguna's TARDY policy is written in the student handbook.
Ø CLEAN PE CLOTHES CHECK-A parent note including: dance, specific reason for excuse, extent of excused activity and a parent/guardian signature will excuse a student for a maximum of 3 consecutive days. In excess of 3 days the school district requires a physician's note. Excused notes are to be given to your teacher at the beginning of the period.
Ø INJURIES-must be reported to the teacher immediately so that proper treatment can be given
Ø SHOWERS-recommended after each day's activity. Students have 10 minutes at the end of the class to shower, dress, and get ready for their next class.
Ø CLASS DISMISSAL-Students are to remain inside the locker rooms until dismissed by a teacher or PE aide. Please do not leave through the gym or annex. Leaving early is a class cut.
Ø LOCKER ROOM BEHAVIOR-is to be the same as classroom behavior.
Ø PE LOCKS AND LOCKERS-are assigned by the department. Combinations must be kept to yourself. If you are missing your lock, IMMEDIATELY see the PE teachers in the office. IF it cannot be found a new lock will be issued after paying $6.00 for the lost lock. Locks from home are not allowed. Switching lockers without permission is not allowed. Always lock up your belongings.
MEDICAL CONCERNS:
If your child has any medical condition that may limit his/her participations
in PE please notify the teacher immediately.

GRADING SYSTEM: There are three major categories which when added together make up each quarter’s grade.
1. Participation / Effort / Social Skills . . . . . . . . . .40%
q Students are expected to be in attendance daily and to participate fully to the best of his/her ability
q Students are expected to show respect for other students, teacher, and the game or activity rules
2. Knowledge . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .35%
q Points are based on the average of quizzes and tests given throughout the quarter
q Written homework and projects
q Written quizzes and tests of fitness and wellness concepts, sport history, rules, terminology etc.
3. Fitness / Physical Skills . . . . . . . . . . . . . 25%
q Skill tests include observed practice, refinement, acquisition and application of skills
q Students will be assigned to establish, maintain, and evaluate their own individual physical fitness program
