•
The problem or data, as well as all* work must be shown, and the answer
checked to receive credit. (*even the calculations done in your head.)

•
Homework is due at the beginning of the class period. It will be VISUALLY
checked. If it appears to be complete it will earn 2 points; not complete
but substantial effort 1 point and; not visible or lack of effort 0 points.
If the student was absent they will have a “no mark” in the grade book.
School policy allows them 1 day for each day absent to make it up. After
that time it should become a “0”.

•
Late homework is accepted but is at 50% of its value.

**Practice (homework) is the key to success in math.**

The following practice pattern has proven to be **very successful**…
especially for students who do not find that math comes easily.

1. Copy the original problem or data.

2. Show all work; even 1 + 1 = 2. If using a calculator show all of
the buttons used.

3. Circle your final answer….**THEN** check with the book to see
if it is correct.

4. If it is not correct:

a.Don’terase the old work!

b.Start looking for mistakesby checking the copy job, data, instructions and calculations. If a mistake is found put one line through the old work and start the problem again.

c. If no mistake is found:i. Check the examples in the book to see if you are doing the right steps.

ii. Ask for some help. (other students, parents, teacher)

iii. Question if the book’s answer is correct.

d. If you are not able to “solve” the problem thenASKfor help in class the next day.
