President’s Message Laguna Middle School Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
Will Our School Get an “A” for Achievement?
PTA is about student success. Getting parents, grandparents, communities, educators, and others engaged in childrens’ lives is our top priority because it is a leading indicator of how well students do in school.
Because Laguna Middle School PTA is about student success, we support activities that inspire and promote intellectual curiosity, creativity and individual growth. We give grants to teachers provide money to activities like Mock Trial that integrate academics; give financial support to the arts like The Poetry Tea; support hands-on learning, field trips and a variety of enrichment activities. We strive to support the educational environment, which fosters teaching excellence, stimulates learning and facilitates communication and trust among students, staff and parents.
Our goal is to graduate adolescents who have developed high academic skills, are well rounded and who have, as a result of the LAMS experience, significantly enhanced their potential to make a meaningful contribution to society.
We are committed to LAMS’ effort to educate and nurture the whole student-mind and body. We, as a parent and teacher community, can inspire a student to become a critical thinker, a problem solver, and a life-long learner, while acquiring a solid academic foundation.
I invite you to be a part of LAMS PTA and take advantage of the greatest resource we have in PTA-each other. You’ll find that parents involved in PTA have an amazing wealth of knowledge and experience, which is especially helpful as we walk our child through adolescence. While our children are trying to naturally become more independent, we do have this opportunity to continue to be involved in the school much as we were in the elementary school days.
I hope you can find a meaningful way to help contribute to the school community and the success of all of our children.
Enjoy the school year.
