the rough draft of the research paper. The rough draft is due on
Tues., Feb. 26. Students should have a header, heading, title, introduction,
thesis, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Please type it if possible.
Citations of sources are to be in the text of the paper. All points
on the research paper are kept on the orange sheet. There should
be a score for note sheets, work cited sheets, thesis, and outline.
The next score will be the rough draft score.

ATTENTION STUDENTS AND PARENTS!
Week of Feb. 4-8 we will be doing
research in the library. At home students should be reading for the
reseach paper and entering it on the KBAR sheet (due Feb. 15).
By Feb. 14 students will need 10
pages of notes (at least 6 pages of hand written notes and 4 of
copies of internet information or copies of library sources). Wickapedia
is not considered a reliable internet source. These pages must be highlighted
with information that will be used in the research paper. Students will
need five sources and four different types. Possiblities are: books,
magazines, encyclopedia, reference books, internet site,
personal interview, videos, TV shows,
or newspaper. Students should be doing research at home as well as at school.

At the end of the project students
will be presenting a 5-7 min. presentation about their topics. The presentation
will include pictures on a tri-fold board, so as you do the research, look
for possible pictures you can use.

Persuasive essay is due on Friday, Dec. 7. It should be typed
and double spaced. The essay should include the following:
4-5 sentence introduction with a "hook" and thesis or main idea of
essay, 3 paragraphs which prove your thesis with details to support the
topic sentence in each paragraph (hamburger). One paragraph which
has an objection to your thesis and your rebuttal to the objection, a conclusion
which includes the thesis restated, a summary of the arguments, and a call
to action.
