Liz Dinh began her career in education 20 years ago as an English teacher in East Side San Jose, California. She then explored the world of ASB and student government/Leadership when she became an Activities Director. As her passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion began to drive her work, she later became a Student Disciplinary Advisor. Wanting to make a bigger impact and long-lasting equitable changes in the school system, she served as Associate Principal at James Lick High School. When the Multi-Tiered System of Supports - Teacher on Special Assignment position was created in her current district, she stepped down from the AP position so that she could examine how she could work alongside her colleagues to truly begin to work together to collaborate on how to embrace and bring about celebrations of the community diversity, how to dismantle the inequities that exist on the school sites, and how to bring about a sense of belonging and inclusivity in the school community. She is super excited to relocate and continue her passion of helping build an equitable and caring school community at Laguna Middle. Liz and her husband, Zahid, have been married for 9 years, and they have a 7-year-old son, Malik, and 5-year-old twins, Aalia and Aydin. Liz loves to travel with her family, hiking, exercising, boba, great coffee and pastries, and continues to try to incorporate mindfulness into her daily life.
